About this site

About The Wildlife Line and our advertiser.

The Wildlife Line is a separately owned, advertiser-supported field guide to wildlife problems in homes across Kane and McHenry County. It also covers nearby towns in DeKalb, DuPage and northwest Cook County. It is not a wildlife control company. Its one advertiser is AquaText Inc., an IDNR-permitted operator.

What is The Wildlife Line?

A free guide for the moment you hear something in the attic, the walls or the chimney: what it probably is, what not to do tonight, what Illinois law says, and who to call. The guides draw on Wildlife Illinois (University of Illinois Extension and the Illinois DNR), the Illinois Department of Public Health and the county animal control offices, and each page names its sources.

Who is the advertiser?

AquaText Inc., a wildlife control company based in Kane County whose operator holds a nuisance wildlife control permit from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR). In Illinois, trapping and removing nuisance wildlife for hire requires that permit. They inspect, remove animals, seal entry points and do repairs, and they set their own prices. Their own site is aquatexts.com.

How do the ads work?

AquaText Inc. pays The Wildlife Line a flat fee to advertise on this site. The fee is the same whether or not you call or hire them, and The Wildlife Line gets no share of any job. You never pay The Wildlife Line anything.

Every button, phone number and request form marked Ad goes to AquaText Inc. The phone number is a Wildlife Line number that forwards your call to them; their own number is on aquatexts.com. Calls are not recorded.

The guides are written by The Wildlife Line, not by the advertiser, and the advertiser doesn't review or approve them. You're free to hire any licensed operator: the Illinois DNR keeps a list of permitted wildlife control operators by county.

Who runs The Wildlife Line?

The Wildlife Line is owned by Mike Carpenter, based in Illinois. Its owner also does paid web and marketing work for AquaText Inc. We don't trap, handle, remove or relocate animals, and nobody from The Wildlife Line comes to your house.

The Wildlife Line started in 2026 and covers Illinois homes only. It isn't connected to The Wildlife-Line, a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation group in Connecticut that used this web address until about 2015 and now runs thewildlifeline.org.

What doesn't this site cover?

  • Mice, rats and insects. Those are pest-control jobs. Call a licensed pest-control company.
  • Injured or orphaned wildlife. That needs a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. The IDNR keeps a list.
  • Pets and stray dogs or cats. Call your county animal control.
  • Bites and possible rabies exposure. Call your doctor and your county health department first.

What happens to my information?

If you use the advertiser's request form, your name, number, town and description go to AquaText Inc. so they can call you back, and we keep a copy. We don't sell it or share it with anyone else. The privacy notice has the details.
